Has The iPad Finally Met Its Match?
In April 2010, Apple released the iPad, a revolutionary device that encapsulates all the vital abilities from a home computer as well as using Apple’s well known features, such as downloadable applications.
The technology market was in shock after a huge demand, when they sold 3 million units in 80 days!
Until now, the iPad has dominated the tablet computer market, however on 2nd November Samsung released its latest product the ‘Galaxy Tab’ aimed to rival the iPad and gain a considerable market share.
Below is a product review for the new Samsung model.
The Galaxy Tab has a seven-inch touch screen compared with the Apple gadget’s at 9.7 inches, and runs Google’s Android software.
Users can download thousands of apps from Google’s online store, together with their contacts and diary from Google’s online services.
The Tab will be available for £529 from T-Mobile, which is considerably higher than the iPad which is priced at £429
Good
- Lightweight and portable
- Great build quality
- Bright, colourful display
- Support for loads of file formats
- Front and rear-facing cameras
- Works as a phone
- Web browser supports Flash
Bad
- Chunky
- Not as slick as the iPad
- The three separate app stores is just confusing
Conclusion
The Samsung Galaxy Tab is a great device that packs neat hardware and well-integrated software into an appealing little bundle. I’m not going to say the Tab is better than the iPad, because it isn't. But it isn't any worse either -- it's just different.
The iPad is undoubtedly slicker and simpler. If you're looking for a tablet to keep on your coffee table, and let you browse the Web on the sofa, the iPad is king. But, if you're a gentleman or lady about town and want something more nimble yet more feature-packed, the Tab will make a fine companion.
